Uno, Dos, Tres....

We were astonished when we discovered that Tyler can count to 10 in spanish!!  A few nights ago Ben was counting to 3, as we often do to get Tyler's attention as a last chance before punishment.  Well, Ben said "uno...dos...." and then Tyler said "tres"!!  Ben took spanish so he was just doing it for fun and to see what Tyler would do.  Needless to say... we both looked at each other wide-eyed when Tyler responded.  So, then Ben said uno again and Tyler took it from there all the way to diez!!  We were so surprised because we had never, not even once, gone over that with him.  Yep, he learned it straight from Dora & Diego...LOL.  I'm glad that all that Nick Jr. tv time has taught him something!

It's Beginning to Look....

A Lot Like Christmas........

Thanksgiving 2010

We had a nice, intimate Thanksgiving dinner this year...just the 4 of us!  It was the first time, since getting married, that we didn't celebrate with family.  We missed seeing everyone, but it was kind of nice to relax and enjoy the day at our own pace.
Someone is excited about her first Thanksgiving!

Bailey - 5 Months

Our baby girl turned 5 months old on the day before Thanksgiving.  I'll wait until 6 months to do a long blog on how wonderful she is...of course including all her new tricks.  I couldn't let a month milestone go by without a post though - so here is a sweet picture of Miss Bailey Beth for you to enjoy.

Birthday Party

Nana & Pop (Tyler & Bailey's great grandpa Gaines) both had birthdays on Sunday so we celebrated with a family party. We hope they both enjoyed it and had happy birthdays.  Paige took some great pictures of Tyler and Bailey at the party and here are several for your viewing pleasure.

Lucinda & Trey's Shower

Anna, Erin, and I hosted a bridal shower for Lucinda & Trey.  They had a great time, a good turnout, and received many nice gifts.

Heirloom Dining Room

We recently moved in my maternal grandparents' dining room furniture....with the help of my dad and our friend Gerald!  Of course, I think it looks absolutely beautiful and I feel so honored to have it.  Grandmother Ridley was always a stickler for taking good care of things and keeping them clean so naturally her dining furniture is in pristine condition.  As I look at it I can remember many meals we shared around the table at her house...even when I had to eat at the kids' table and was an onlooker to the "big table".  I never imagined that table would someday sit in my house - but I'm very grateful it does!  Here's a bare look at the room...we haven't really finished decorating yet.

close up of the china cabinet...we put Grandmother Ridley's coffee set in the bottom, left corner and Grandma Harmon's amber depression glass in the bottom, right corner.  Their pieces don't coordinate exactly, but it we wanted to display them just the same.

Happy Halloween

We went to the Fall Festival at church and when we got home Tyler had just enough time to trick or treat at several houses in our neighborhood.  Tyler played games, decorated a paper pumpkin with stickers, got a balloon & popcorn, went on a hayride, scored some candy, and ate a hot dog at the festival!  Bailey just took everything in....she seemed to enjoy watching all the kiddos.  Tyler really "got it" this year and had loads of fun all evening.  I think Bailey was happy with her 1st Halloween judging by all the smiles she flashed around at the festival.  The most unique "treat" Tyler received was play doh and the funniest thing from the night was Tyler trying to go into our neighbors' homes - you just never know with that boy!

October 24th...

a big day for these 2 little ones

He turned 2 and a half years old

and she turned 4 months old

Bailey - 4 Months

Well, well....our baby girl is already 4 months old!  This is going too fast.  I keep finding myself "filing away" special moments with Bailey in hopes that I'll be able to remember exactly how it felt while we lived it 20 years from now.  I definitely think we tend to savor baby #2 a little more since all the 1st time parenting jitters are gone and it's very likely this will be our last go around (unless God has a little surprise in store).

So....Miss Bailey Beth turned 4 months old on Sunday, October 24th.  She went in for her 4 month well visit yesterday and got a great report.  Our pediatrician was impressed with her physical development!  He said that her body control and tracking (where they follow the light with their eyes) were as good as a 6 month old's.  Here are her stats: 15 lbs. 7 ozs. (90th%) for weight, 25 3/4" long (95th%) for height, and 16 1/2" (75th%) for her head.  Our chunky monkey sure is growing!!

Bailey's new tricks:
-she loves to laugh
-sucking her thumb
-mini push ups during tummy time
-holding toys

Bailey gets mad when:
-Tyler leaves her line of sight....she enjoys watching him play
-someone tries to give her a bottle....she wants nothing to do with it
-Tyler disturbs her while she is eating

Bailey is excited when:
-Mommy or Daddy pick her up
-Tyler talks to her
-she spots our seclusive cat, Chloe

Elmo Show

We went to see Sesame Street Live (aka Elmo Show to Tyler) tonight with the Harris family.  Tyler had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave when the show was over.  I'm sure he'll be talking about it for a while.  Bailey Beth watched a good bit of the show and seemed to like it, but she was mesmerized by all the stage lights.
the title of the show was "Elmo's Healthy Heroes"

Tyler tried to dance with this little girl during intermission....look at her face, ha ha ha
