Owen Patrick Harris

Our good friends, Ryan & Jennifer, just had their 2nd baby boy! Owen Patrick Harris was born on Tuesday, May 4th at 3:46 pm. He weighed 8 pounds 1 ounce and measured 20 inches long. Owen is precious and looks just like his big brother, Austin. Mama and Baby are doing great.

32 Weeks - Big Update!

On Monday I turned 32 weeks pregnant - only about 7 weeks to go. I had another prenatal check-up on Tuesday. Again, nothing too exciting happened at this appointment, but we received a phone call from the OB's office manager on Wednesday to let us know when they scheduled my c-section! My c-section is scheduled for Thursday, June 24th at 11 am. As long as my pregnancy continues to progress smoothly and Bailey doesn't decide to come early we expect to meet her on June 24th. This is very exciting for us since this would mean that both of our children will be born on a Thursday and the 24th of the month. Plus, my favorite OB, Dr. Hood, is on call that day so more than likely he will be doing my surgery!!! The OB who delivered Tyler has retired from the OB side of his work and only sees GYN patients now so Dr. Hood is my #1 choice.

My blood pressure was 108/68, my stomach measured 1 week ahead again, and I gained 8 pounds since my last visit 4 weeks ago. Bailey Beth's heart rate averaged to be around 140 bpm. Everything still looks good and I still feel pretty good. My feet have started swelling considerably, but I am still able to wear most of my shoes.

I have to go in for prenatal checks every 2 weeks now, and in June I'll go once a week until Bailey arrives.

Tyler is 2 years old!!

opening a present on his birthday

it's Mickey.....yay

happy boy

opening the rest of Great Grandma & Grandpa Johnson's gift

Tyler turned 2 years old on Saturday, April 24th. We can't believe how fast he is growing up, but at the same time it's hard to imagine our lives before our "baby" boy arrived. Tyler is becoming such a smart, curious, and entertaining little boy! His newest trick is putting several words together to ask questions and say phrases. We are still working on praying....he's got the "amen" part down but he tends to get distracted in the middle of the prayer. He is starting to show interest in potty training so we may start experimenting with the "big boy potty" soon. We are about to convert his crib into the toddler bed since he managed to escape once already! Tyler loves to count things, color, play with balls & blocks and dance. He also enjoys playing basketball and being outdoors. He recently learned how to tell us his age and read his name. He has taken up singing lately too....ha ha. His favorite foods are definitely yogurt and vanilla ice cream, and his favorite drink is water. Tyler's favorite tv shows are: Yo Gabba Gabba, Hip Hop Harry, Mickey Mouse, Sesame Street, and The Backyardigans, and he LOVES all his learning dvds. He asks for them by name now!

Tyler had his 2 year check-up at the peds office yesterday. He weighed 28 pounds which put him in the 50th percentile for weight and he was 35 inches tall which put him in the 70th percentile for height. We couldn't believe how much Tyler has gone up on the chart in weight. At his last check-up he was only in the 25th percentile for weight. This was the 1st time Tyler got weighed on the big scale and he was measured standing up too.....no more baby scale or measurement table for 2 year olds! Tyler currently wears size 2T in clothing and wears either a 7.5 or 8 in shoes.

Bailey Elizabeth

We are thrilled to announce that Tyler's sister's name is Bailey Elizabeth!! We have been contemplating her name for what seems like forever, and on Friday evening we officially decided on Bailey Elizabeth. As you know, Ben and I were also considering Taylor and Payton for her first name, and more recently added Bailey to the mix. After several weeks of "trying out" the different names we both agreed that Bailey was the perfect name for our baby girl.

We wanted Bailey to have a family name, with a Hebrew origin, as her middle name - just like Tyler has with Benjamin. We both like the name Elizabeth and it is a family name on both mine and Ben's sides of the family. We will primarily call our baby girl Bailey, but may also call her Bailey Beth on occasion. I guess it will just depend on our mood! ;-)

OB Appt. - 28 Weeks

I went in for my 28th week ob appt. on Wednesday. At this appt. they did the glucose test to check for gestational diabetes! After drinking a very, very sweet kool-aid type drink they test your blood sugar exactly 1 hour later to see how well your body metabolizes sugar during pregnancy. I have been a tiny bit concerned that I may have gestational diabetes because I've been having some occasional spots in my vision. It usually happens when I encounter drastic light changes, like walking out of the house into the bright sunshine or turning off a bright light and being in darkness. As I watched the digital timer on the glucose test wind down I got nervous that I would fail the test and have to come back for the extended 3 hour glucola test, but I PASSED my glucose test...YAY! No gestational diabetes here!! Your blood sugar has to be under 140 to pass the test and mine was 122. The OB assured me that these occasional spots are normal during pregnancy and are most often caused by swelling around the optic nerve.

My blood pressure was 106/61 so it is still good, and my stomach only measured 1 week ahead this time at 29 cm which is equivalent to 29 weeks. The baby's heart rate was in the low 140s. I am still feeling good and very thankful not to have gestational diabetes!

Easter 2010

After church we drove up to my Grandparents' house in Simpsonville for our family Easter dinner and egg hunt. We enjoyed visiting with everyone, and Tyler had fun with his cousins.

Easter Egg Hunt

Our church had it's annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at a neighborhood park/playground. Lucinda lives in the same neighborhood so she joined us to watch Tyler hunt eggs. Tyler had a great time! He found 10 eggs and had a ball playing on the playground slides.
