OB Appt. - 28 Weeks

I went in for my 28th week ob appt. on Wednesday. At this appt. they did the glucose test to check for gestational diabetes! After drinking a very, very sweet kool-aid type drink they test your blood sugar exactly 1 hour later to see how well your body metabolizes sugar during pregnancy. I have been a tiny bit concerned that I may have gestational diabetes because I've been having some occasional spots in my vision. It usually happens when I encounter drastic light changes, like walking out of the house into the bright sunshine or turning off a bright light and being in darkness. As I watched the digital timer on the glucose test wind down I got nervous that I would fail the test and have to come back for the extended 3 hour glucola test, but I PASSED my glucose test...YAY! No gestational diabetes here!! Your blood sugar has to be under 140 to pass the test and mine was 122. The OB assured me that these occasional spots are normal during pregnancy and are most often caused by swelling around the optic nerve.

My blood pressure was 106/61 so it is still good, and my stomach only measured 1 week ahead this time at 29 cm which is equivalent to 29 weeks. The baby's heart rate was in the low 140s. I am still feeling good and very thankful not to have gestational diabetes!
