We had our ultrasound this morning to check out Bailey's estimated weight and my amniotic fluid levels. Everything looked great - my fluid levels were normal and Bailey measured to be about 7 pounds 13 ounces, which puts her in the 75 percentile for weight on the growth chart. Ultrasounds this late in pregnancy are not completely accurate, but they are a best guess. The measurents are accurate within a pound either way which means she could very well be 6 lbs. 13 ozs. or 8 lbs. 13 ozs - we'll just have to wait and see!
The ultrasonographer had a hard time getting a good head circumference measurement because Bailey's head was so low in my pelvis. Bailey's head circumference measured to be in the 32nd percentile, her femur bone length measured to be in the 59th percentile, and her abdomen circumference measured to be in the 93rd percentile. The OB said the head circumference measurement had the largest margin for error, since she is so low, and that it's probably larger than it acutally measured which would make her estimated weight a little higher. Bailey's heart rate was 152 bpm and she still has girl parts ;-).
Just for comparison, we had our last ultrasound with Tyler when I was 37 weeks, 1 week less than with Bailey, and he estimated to be 7 lbs. 9 ozs. in that scan. Tyler was born at exactly 39 weeks and Bailey is scheduled to arrive at 39 weeks 3 days. I think it's neat how they've always measured so closely in their ultrasounds.
I won't have anymore OB appts. since my c-section is scheduled for next Thursday. My cervix is still closed so it does not appear that Bailey Beth will surprise us with an early arrival. We are VERY excited and will let you know when Miss Bailey Beth makes her grand entrance into the world. Please keep our family in your prayers!
